Dear Writer, Are You in Writer's Block?

Happy release day to

Becca Syme!

Wrestling with your current manuscript? Stuck so deep in an empty well of ideas that you worry you’ll never find your way out?

Ask yourself this question:

Dear Writer, Are You In Writer’s Block?

Writer's block. I mean, it's not the world's sexiest topic, right? In fact, I have no doubt it will go largely unnoticed, becuase let's face it, no one wants to talk about this. But that's why it's so important to talk about it.
Writer's block is basically the whispered sin in the halls of authordom.
But is it?
I'm an author and a coach of authors, and I hope you'll join me, if you think this book is for you. If you struggle with writer's block, or think you do, then at least take a look inside and see if this book is for you.
I think it might be.

I’ve posted before about how much I love working with Becca and what a profound impact her classes have had on my life and many people that I know. She’s just pretty awesome.

Dear Writer, Are You In Writer’s Block? is the fourth book in her QuitBooks for Writers series. I know several authors who were anxiously awaiting its release because our world is a mess. Life just kind of came to a stop on a random Friday, the future doesn’t look like we would have predicted just a few months ago, and this chaos is definitely counterproductive to being creative.

In the current circumstances, even authors who have never had the slightest hint of a block in their story creation are struggling. Want to know a secret? Pushing through and forcing the words on the page is rarely the answer. Wanting it bad enough is rarely the answer. And denying the block exists and fighting against yourself is definitely rarely the answer!

In this book, Becca addresses those myths and more, including why writer’s block might be necessary to the creative process. That’s probably not what you want to hear, but Becca brings the mysterious causes of that feeling like your brain has become a blank television screen to light and offers strategies for turning the idea faucet back on.

In addition to teaching classes, writing books, and being all-around awesome. She also host The QuitCast on YouTube which is a wealth of information.

If you’re blocked, kind of blocked, or even if you can just feel the wall descending to cut off your creativity, check out Dear Writer, Are You In Writer’s Block? or take a look at this QuitCast episode and see if what Becca says resonates with you.
