It is satire, humor, and horror in an easy-to-assemble package. Just a little Ikea humor there, you don't really have to assemble anything. And if you have ever assembled something from The Den of Satan (as my husband calls it). You know there is NOTHING "easy" about it. You want to hear some horror stories? I can tell some Ikea horror stories!
Read MoreMaisey Yates is one of my go-to authors for romance that is witty, authentic, and not over-the-top sappy. I have devoured the Donnelly family books of the Copper Ridge series. So I was greatly anticipating Liam and Sabrina's story in Christmastime Cowboy.
Read MoreI would recommend In Too Deep for people who like true romantic suspense. Tender moments, hot love scenes, along with some action-filled-please-don't-die experiences.
Read MoreOnce a Charmer is the perfect balance of humor, romance, and small town weirdness.
Read MoreMurder on the Orient Express has everything that mystery writers today are told NOT to do. There is lots of "telling" instead of "showing". There is head-hopping. There is very, very little character development. And, it all just works!
Read MoreI LOVED this one. It sucks you with this beautiful, lyrical style writing that makes you feel the oppressive heat of an Australian drought and keeps the pages turning with subtle twists and secrets that just beg you to work the puzzle.
Read MoreI've joked many times that my oldest daughter, Michelle, needs to become a critic or a literary agent. She's excellent at pinpointing exactly what she likes and doesn't like about books, movies, musicals, basically anything. So, when she randomly announced, "I really like this book I'm reading!" I had to ask her all about it.
Read MoreThe Last Weekend has an eerie feel to it. I mean, just look at that cover! It is reminiscent of old-style suspense such as Agatha Christie or Christopher Pike. The smooth and inviting style of the writing draws the reader into this delightfully creepy castle in North Carolina with an intriguing cast of characters.
Read MoreWild Ride Cowboy is a story of dealing with loss, living with guilt, and finding a way to let yourself be happy. On the surface, that doesn't exactly sound like a story that you'd find yourself reading with a goofy grin or even laughing out loud. But, I did both of those.
Read MoreThe Coldest Fear has a chilling plot. The story is told through multiple characters who all have something to hide and something to lose. The way everything came together in the end made sense (which I always appreciate) and, of course, left some dangling threads for the next book.
Read MoreSeeing Red is everything a reader expects from Sandra Brown. Plot lines that intertwine a way you don't see coming but logically unfold. A little humor, a few HOT love scenes and ending that drops your jaw but makes perfect sense.
Read MoreIn this intense sequel, we continue to follow Hope through time. During this adventure, she is about her meet a man she has admired since childhood. Her idol, Nickola Telsa. Her family’s enemy, The Timeslippers, have ensured their failure. Hope is institutionalized; her friends unable to reach her. Her soulmate, Bran, helpless to save her. The twists, back-stabbing, and betrayal is surprising and unexpected. The ending leaves us breathless and wanting.
Read MoreThe Marriage Pact is an intense and twisted story that kept me reading until almost 3:00 in the morning.
Read MoreI am a fan of Sharla Lovelace's witty writing style, authentic characters, and down-home settings Her Charmed in Texas series brings all that together in laugh-out-loud, sexy stories about people you'd loved to have over for dinner.
Read MoreI could not read this book fast enough. Just like the car careening down the twisting road, once the plot takes off, it doesn't slow down.
Read MoreMy previous experience with Kathy Reichs is her collaborative short story in Matchup. I've heard great things about her Temperance Brennan series so I was excited to be approved by Netgalley for Two Nights because I hoped to become more familiar with her style and this is the first in a new series.
Read MoreThis book reminded me of Forever by Judy Blume or Up in Seth's Room by Norma Fox Mazer. I realize those books are ancient at this point, but the message is still the same: Teens are going to have sex. It's okay for girls to want it as much as boys. And, it's okay for them to responsibly explore those feelings without anything tragic happening. I appreciated the empowering message of the story and honest portrayal of Maggie and Levi's relationship.
A fun, sweet and sexy without being cliche or cheesy.
Read MoreContemporary romance isn't always my thing. I'm a mystery/suspense girl. I usually prefer some mortal danger with my relationship building, but I loved Alison's sense of humor and I extra loved a plus-sized character who was not ashamed of her curves.
