Let me start this review by saying I love Sandra Brown. She has long been one of my "go-to" authors. I've also heard her speak and she seems like the type of person you could just sit down and have a margarita with. This is us at my very first writing conference. I'm totally sure she remembers this picture as well as I do!
That being said. She's let me down a few times. Um, cough, Low Pressure, cough. Any time you want to rant with me about that book I'm down. I know, it has a bazillion five-star reviews. I'm the only one on the planet who wanted to throw it across the room. It's just me. I know.
I'm happy to say Sandra Brown is back at the top of my list with Seeing Red.
Kerra Bailey is a TV journalist hot on the trail of a story guaranteed to skyrocket her career to new heights. Twenty-five years ago, Major Franklin Trapper became a national icon when he was photographed leading a handful of survivors to safety after the bombing of a Dallas hotel. For years, he gave frequent speeches and interviews but then suddenly dropped out of the public eye, shunning all media. Now Kerra is willing to use any means necessary to get an exclusive with the Major--even if she has to secure an introduction from his estranged son, former ATF agent John Trapper.
Still seething over his break with both the ATF and his father, Trapper wants no association with the bombing or the Major. Seeing Red is everything a reader expects from Sandra Brown. Plot lines that intertwine a way you don't see coming but logically unfold. A little humor, a few HOT love scenes and ending that drops your jaw but makes perfect sense.
About halfway through, I thought I had this one all figured out. I was wrong and right and I love that! Because even though I knew the "who", I had to keep reading for the "why". And, the "why" made it a great story with an awesome twist that caught me completely off guard even though the hints were there all along.
I absolutely would recommend this one and can't wait to discuss it with someone else who has read it!
