Dawn's Favorite Things: How to Write Love Scenes that Readers Won't Skip

So eight years ago (OMG how is that possible??) I wrote this post titled: Let’s Talk about Sex admitting the fact that I sucked at writing love scenes. My critique partners used to tease me about “closing the door” the instant my characters started getting physical.

It’s not that I was a prude or have any problems reading love scenes. My hesitation was out of fear. Not fear of who was going to read it, but fear of writing a bad love scene. Back then, I’d rather fade-to-black than risk a reader frowning, tilting their head in confusion, or (absolute worst) thinking, “ewww!”

None of those are the response you’re looking for.

That’s why I’m so excited to recommend Roni Loren’s new online course: How to Write Love Scenes that Readers Won’t Skip. Roni is New York Times bestseller as well as a two-time RITA winner who started out with the wildly successful erotic series Loving on the Edge and now has the fabulous contemporary series, The Ones That Got Away.

She knows her love scenes.

I’ve seen her give this class as a workshop and it helped me immensely. I love that she’s offering it online so anyone can take it at their own pace.

Full disclosure: Roni is a personal friend, but I genuinely love her books and believe this workshop is super informative for anyone struggling to write out of their comfort zone. The links to the class are not affiliated. I do not make any money from encouraging people to take this course.

No matter what genre you write, if your story includes any kind of love scenes, this class is for you. So check it out then hop over to my Facebook page and let’s talk about sex! In books, of course!
