Still on the hunt for something to make me laugh, I reread Teri Anne Stanley's Accidentally in Love with the Biker. This might have been cheating a little because I love Teri's dry wit and quirky characters and I'd read it back in March. But, my life has been through the spin cycle since then and I'd forgotten enough of it to enjoy a second reading.
The story is a familiar play on the "Fake Boyfriend" trope but the characters are fun and likable enough to keep the plot from feeling tired. Kellie is a bookstore owner by day but erotic romance writer by night. She's in Vegas for a conference to make a last ditch effort to sell her manuscript and save her store when she's rear-ended by a hunk o' burning love on a motorcycle.(no euphemism intended. He bounces off her trunk, literally.)
What comes after is a quick, sexy read where no one is exactly what you expect them to be. Even the secondary characters, which is a great surprise because I spent most to the book wanting to bust a champagne bottle over one's head and have a sit-down-sister-to-sister talk with another.
My favorite laugh out loud scenes involved seriously intense, fake sex and dinner at the romance convention through the hero's point-of-view. Guess we might look a little odd to an outsider. Teaser for you: "Bisexual Wereparrots".
I would recommend this book to my writer friends who will find some parts of it almost too true to be funny in our little world.
It's also a great read for anyone who has ever wanted a short escape from reality with a hot, bad boy.
Teri Anne Stanley's other books include:
(Totally loved that one!)
And her Bourbon Boys Series
A Shot with You (Coming in January)
